About the Founder

Rajas Gupta is the founder of Bilancia, an up-and-coming sustainability consulting firm with operations in the United Kingdom, UAE and India.

He leads a team of experts providing Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) consulting services to an extensive list of clienteles that includes India’s largest conglomerates Adani and Reliance, international steel producer ArcellorMittal, automotive giant Tata Motors and heavy machinery specialists, J.C. Bamford (JCB). Other clients in the chemical sector include PI Industries, Gujarat Heavy Chemicals Limited (GHCL) and Kiri Industries.

Bilancia specialises in conducting Life Cycle Assessments, drafting sustainability roadmaps, supply and value chain analysis, reporting and disclosures under both national and international standards and, climate risk modelling.

Rajas’ has a bachelor’s in economics from the University of Illinois Chicago, graduating with a summa cum laude, specialising in Environmental and Behavioural Economics. He also holds an MPhil in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge, publishing a dissertation, ‘Evaluating the influence of local factors residential Solar PV adoption in the USA’.

With a decade of personal professional experience, Rajas has developed an expertise in the fields of renewable energy generation,GHG emission analysis and, environmental and economic policy diffusion and adoption on micro and macro levels. Rajas is also a certified practitioner of GIS (Geographic Information System) and has a keen interest in real estate economics.

He is also the co-founder of Carbon Capture Technology Limited, a London based start-up developing novel technology for capturing and cleaning CO2 emissions to a 99% food grade level Carbon Dioxide. The start-up has strategic partnerships with Rolls Royce and local waste to energy power plants as well as an agreement in place for the sale of clean Carbon Dioxide to Evian, Nestle.

Bilancia’s Advisory Board

Mr Tabhani Nareshkumar Mohanlal

An environmental professional with over 3 decades of experience handling production plants and all types of pollution prevention and control.

Mr Tabhani had a long career with the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), where he successfully addressed environmental issues ranging from local industrial levels to policy and governance. His responsibilities were not limited to planning pollution prevention measures, implementing punitive actions against defaulters, formulating pollution control policies conducive to industrial growth, and ensuring their practical implementation. He holds a graduate degree in chemical engineering and a master’s degree in environmental engineering.

Dhansukhbhai C Chaudhari

Mr D. C. Chaudhari is an industrial safety expert with over 40 years of experience. He retired as the Director of Industrial Safety and Health in the state of Gujarat.

He has made notable contributions to the formulation, review, and updation of numerous acts, including the Factories Act 1948, the Gujarat Factories Act 1963, the Environment Protection Act 1986, and the Payment of Wages Act 1936, to name a few. Currently, he is an active member of the state expert appraisal committee appointed by the Ministry of Forests, Environment, and Climate Change, Government of India, since 2020. He is also appointed as an expert committee member by the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management.

Dr Mangubhai N Patel

Prof. (Dr.) M.N. Patel is a dynamic individual with a combination of academic and administrative excellence. A Doctorate with a vast academic experience over 5 decades from being an assistant lecturer to Vice Chancellor of Gujarat University & Gujarat Technological University. Dr M. N. Patel has served as Principal of L. D. College of Engineering, Dean of Technology and Engineering for Gujarat University, Vice Chancellor of Parul University, and Secretary for the Admission Committee for Professional Courses, Gujarat. He was awarded the “E-India 2009” for ICT-enabled university by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology in 2009, as well as the Manthan Award 2009 from the Digital Empowerment Foundation in 2009.

Dr Mukesh B Joshi

Dr M. B. Joshi is a water management specialist and strategic thinker. Dr Joshi has served as a water and environmental professional for the government of Gujarat for almost four decades. He retired as Chief General Manager of Sadar Sarovar Narmada Nigam. At present, he is associated with the Gujarat Institute of Disaster Management as a consultant. He is also associated with various technical & academic institutions. He recently concluded a column in the newspaper Sandesh on environmental issues.

Dr M Dinesh Kumar

Dr M Dinesh Kumar is the Executive Director of the Institute of Resource Analysis & Policy in Hyderabad, an Indian think tank on water management founded by him. He holds a PhD in water management. Dr Kumar works on water, agriculture, and energy-related issues in India and internationally, heading several research and consultancy projects, as well as providing training. His internationally acclaimed works include the water-energy nexus, climate risk assessment in water supply and sanitation, and global virtual water trade, among other notable contributions. Dr Kumar has offered consultancy services to many international agencies, including the World Bank, FAO, USAID, UNDP & Australian Council for International Agriculture Research & many more national and state government agencies
